I just listened to Chris Jordan’s TED presentation: \u00a0Turning powerful stats into art<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The presentation is very good, but one particular item kind of stuck with me…<\/p>\n

How many papercups does our society use servicing hot beverages per day ?<\/p>\n

40 Million cups!<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That does not sound like much until one begins to \u00a0*visualize the data” in some sort of context, and for me, he did it!.. \u00a0 \u00a0On a daily bases, we use over a mile, 42 stories high \u00a0of paper cups… \u00a0 That is a crazy amount… \u00a0 (See graphic on right)<\/p>\n

This TED session, made me want to go a research a bit more about Chris… \u00a0 As it turns out, \u00a0Chris Jordan<\/a> is a Seattle-based photographer with a social cause. His \u00a0is known for his\u00a0large scale works depicting\u00a0mass consumption\u00a0and waste.<\/p>\n

( Side note: \u00a0for the “no-so-weak-at heart”, his collection: midway Message from the Gyre<\/a>\u00a0 will leave you thinking! )<\/p>\n
