This will be the first post of what I hope to be an informative and useful series ahead.\u00a0 They will be under the category:\u00a0 Online Business<\/p>\n

I have been in the technology business for over 25 years, and for the vast part of them, they have been \"bear_small\"<\/a>good years.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 My work has consisted of helping corporations (large and small) develop, deploy and maintain technology-based solutions.\u00a0 I have written and created hundreds, if not thousands, of emails, reports, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and such.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spent tremendous amounts of hours in conference rooms, planes, trains and automobiles, not to mention the large list of hotels I\u2019ve stayed at.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I really have no complaints to talk about.\u00a0 Overall, it has been a good time, done some great projects and developed long-lasting friendship.\u00a0\u00a0 Although things have not come \u201ceasy\u201d, I\u2019ve accomplished most of the goals I\u2019ve set out to do (in retrospect they were probably not high-enough) with a combination of hard work, teamwork, good luck and good wine along the way.<\/p>\n

I never got into golf or fishing.\u00a0 My hobby happens to also be technology . Sometimes they take the form learning something new, developing an applications, helping a friend with his \/ her startup.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 My wife has always been on top of me about this, to get a \u201creal\u201d hobby, as she does not think these are true hobbies as, she explains, they do not take me truly away from work.\u00a0\u00a0 However, in my view, they keep my mind and soul learning, which feed the personal passion inside\u00a0 (maybe a\u00a0 topic for a blog entry of its own!)<\/p>\n

As I get older, a series of question keep ringing on the side of my mind, and it gets louder every week..\u00a0 Is the \u201cwork-for-the-man\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 something\u00a0 I want \/ can \/ should to continue doing?\u00a0\u00a0 Is this what is all about?\u00a0\u00a0 What is next for me?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How can I convert what I know into something not tied to \u201ca job\u201d?<\/p>\n

Career, Work, Job<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would like to explain what these three terms mean to me, and I think the best way to start, is to put it into the following statements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Job:<\/td>\nOver the years, I\u2019ve had many jobs\u00a0 that have provided\u00a0 monetary compensation for what I did.\u00a0\u00a0 Some more than others.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Work<\/td>\nI have worked to provide significant value with every job I\u2019ve been engaged in.\u00a0\u00a0 Each job requirements me to do different type of work: Project Management, Technology Advisor, Pre-sales Solution, Developer,\u00a0 Manager, Consultant,\u00a0 etc.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Career:<\/td>\nI have made a career out of helping people architect and implement technology solutions within their organizations to solve pressing challenges.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Probably No Different Than\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

My story may have different context or details than many others out there, but at the core, it boils down to the same message:<\/p>\n

I am grateful for everything I have been able to do, but wondering what to do next\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I have read the books, read the blogs, and listen to the podcasts\u2026<\/p>\n
