{"id":1961,"date":"2013-01-18T01:29:16","date_gmt":"2013-01-18T01:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebiz98.com\/?p=520"},"modified":"2017-06-20T20:38:05","modified_gmt":"2017-06-20T20:38:05","slug":"i-know-one-thing-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/i-know-one-thing-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"I Know One Thing \u2013 Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>I know one thing: I need to do\u00a0 more\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"IMAG0845cropped\" src=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMAG0845cropped.jpg\" alt=\"IMAG0845cropped\" width=\"129\" height=\"143\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/>Yes it is a bit of a spin on the ancient Greek phrase know as the Socratic <b><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Socratic_paradox\">Socratic paradox<\/a><\/b>,:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>&#8220;I know that I know nothing&#8221;<\/b><br \/>\nor<br \/>\n<b>&#8220;I know one thing: that I know nothing&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Early on I said that I wanted make an effort to record my experience as I move along in this adventure\u2026\u00a0 This entry is not a particularly \u201cgood news\u201d one, as I am currently struggling a bit\u2026\u00a0 Good or bad here it goes\u2026<\/p>\n<p>After creating\u00a0 a couple of\u00a0 sites I thought would get SOME traffic\u2026\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Surprisingly (maybe not after you read below) very little has come in\u2026<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is my site working?<\/li>\n<li>Am I recording the traffic correctly?<\/li>\n<li>Is my content being indexed?<\/li>\n<li>Do I have the right keywords?<\/li>\n<li>Are my ads working?<\/li>\n<li>What have I missed?<\/li>\n<li>Are the sites not interesting enough?<\/li>\n<li>Am I just bad at picking niches?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(Notice the progression? from outside to inside causes)<br \/>\nSo many other questions pop to mind, as to why, how, what\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Most of my initial startup time, has been spent on research, listening to podcasts, videos, reading articles, keyword and online research and such\u2026 (I have written about these in past articles).\u00a0 Most of the info points at the fact that you can start getting traffic, in a short period of time (within weeks) if you focus on good unique content\u2026 Others tell you need to be patient, and keep on going, learning and in time you will have the breakthrough moment&#8230;\u00a0 Some even mention a two year timeline\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 I have to say, this is easier to listen to, than actually going through the process\u2026\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Academically you understand it, practically is another story!\u00a0 (Isn\u2019t that always the case?)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/fishoutofwaterdoodle1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: right; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"fishoutofwaterdoodle1\" alt=\"fishoutofwaterdoodle1\" width=\"148\" height=\"244\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/fishoutofwaterdoodle1.png\"\/><\/a>A while back, I read the book \u201cOutliers: The Story of Success\u201d and oh-boy does it really apply in this case!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There is no substitute for actually DOING the work &#8212; 10,000 times if you want to become an expert!\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I feel like a fish out of water, but I like it!<\/p>\n<p>I must now pause and reflect on how I\u2019ve gone about doing this so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My goals: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have written about my goals for this process, back in <a href=\"\/online-income-my-goals\/\">this blog entry.<\/a> My two short term goals included:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To receive 3 consecutive months of passive income (No specific amount is intentional)<\/li>\n<li>To actively learn (aka doing) as much as I can about this medium and its potential avenues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I am definitely and without a doubt, I am fully achieving #2.\u00a0 However for #1:\u00a0 I know it is na\u00efve of me (knowing in theory is one thing, but to really know it, you have to experience) but I realize now that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Income comes from conversions from traffic <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span> attract. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>Side note:\u00a0 So many layers in that statement!
