{"id":1986,"date":"2014-09-18T14:01:23","date_gmt":"2014-09-18T14:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/?p=1986"},"modified":"2017-06-20T20:38:01","modified_gmt":"2017-06-20T20:38:01","slug":"vpn-service-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/vpn-service-today\/","title":{"rendered":"VPN Service is a Must Have Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virtual Private Networks (VPN) \u00a0is a technology that \u00a0enables a computer to send and receive data across a network \u00a0by establishing a connection through the use of dedicated connections, virtual tunneling protocols, or traffic encryption.<\/p>\n<p>The basic principle is that once you establish a secure connection,\u00a0\u00a0the server handles all of\u00a0your internet on the back-end which\u00a0secure connection to the internet, where \u00a0your traffic can not be \u00a0&#8220;intercepted&#8221; \u00a0or monitored.<\/p>\n<p>For many years I have used VPN technology for work to connect my laptop to my corporate network, but I had\u00a0grown increasingly aware of the need for my personal use \u00a0as well.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The most important thing you need to know about a VPN: It secures your computer&#8217;s internet connection to guarantee that all of the data you&#8217;re sending and receiving is encrypted and secured from prying eyes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I travel a lot for work and pleasure, and I am constantly on planes, coffee shops and hotels accessing all kinds of WiFi \u00a0networks.<\/p>\n<p>When you connect to a VPN, you usually launch a VPN client on your computer, , log in with your credentials, and your computer establishes a trusted connection with a far away server. Once both computers have verified each other as authentic, all of your internet communication is encrypted and secured from eavesdropping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A *very big* added benefit of a VPN service:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No matter what city \/ location\u00a0I am at, \u00a0you are connecting to a &#8220;home&#8221; server\u00a0and there for surfing the internet as if I was physically located there. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0This comes very handy when I am outside the country\u00a0overseas\u00a0or connected to a network that blocks certain sites (ie: Facebook, Gmail, etc)\u00a0&#8230; [ <em>Yes it happens often in the corporate world still!<\/em> ] \u00a0Typically once\u00a0I connect to the VPN, I can access everything I need&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"StrongVPN.com\" href=\"http:\/\/strongvpn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1989\" src=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/strongvpn.png\" alt=\"strongvpn\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/strongvpn.png 200w, https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/strongvpn-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>There are many companies that provide VPN services. \u00a0 \u00a0I looked at several of the key service providers, and after comparing them I selected\u00a0StrongVPN \u00a0which has served me very well for about 2 years now, and I have been very pleased with their service and responsive customer support.
