 {"id":2579,"date":"2015-12-17T15:48:09","date_gmt":"2015-12-17T15:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/?p=2579"},"modified":"2022-09-23T22:28:10","modified_gmt":"2022-09-24T05:28:10","slug":"resetting-windows-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/resetting-windows-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Resetting Windows 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight, I decided to \u201cReset Windows 10\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I have been using Windows 10 for a long time now\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 I am part of the Windows 10 Insiders Build, but only on my \u201ctest-everyday use\u201d device\u2026 \u00a0 \u00a0 For my Win7 to Win10 upgrade, I \u00a0had chosen\u00a0to go through the\u201dnormal\u201d update process for all of my production machines\u00a0 which updated to Win10\u00a0 without any issues.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So far it has been a great experience so far..\u00a0 No compatibility issues or anything to speak about ..\u00a0 Kudos to the Microsoft Win10 Team !!<\/p>\n<p>Tonight I decided to test the \u201cReset Windows 10\u201d feature on my main device.<\/p>\n<p>Before I did anything, I backed up my data, and wrote down all of the apps that I had (both manually and using a tool to discover my apps called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.belarc.com\/free_download.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Belarc Advisory<\/a><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Now we are ready to proceed.. To do this:\u00a0 You have to go to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Start Menu, go to <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>go to <strong>Update and Recovery<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>go to Recovery Tab.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You are given three choices you can choose from:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Refresh your PC without affecting your files<\/p>\n<p>Remove Everthing and REINSTALL\u00a0 Windows<\/p>\n<p>Advance Setup<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I selected choice #1\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 The process tool\u00a0 45 minutes \u00a0 and there was a progress %\u00a0 completed status that was displayed along the way..<\/p>\n<p>(For more information about the process: please look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qoncious.com\/questions\/how-restore-windows-10-factory-settings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">qoncious.com: How to Restore Windows 10 to Factory Settings<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p>After, what it seemed several reboots, and about 45 minutes in lapsed time, the system reboot.<\/p>\n<p>It asked me for my credential , which I entered, and then went through the setup process\u2026\u00a0 I had to clean some desktop shortcuts, but in the end, Win10 without any applications was installed on my desktop, which is what expected\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 There was one file on the desktop\u2026 It was named Removed Apps.html which listed all apps previously installed.<\/p>\n<p>I reinstalled Dropbox, Office 365, and a few other essentials I have, and voila!\u00a0 I was up and running!
