It has\u00a0 been a tough couple of travel days, and decided that the night was better spent catch up on work.\u00a0 For dinner I chose to eat at the hotel restaurant, which, to be honest, I prefer to avoid, except for rare occasions.<\/p>\n
Like most of us, I usually mind my own business, and do not listen in to other people\u2019s conversations but\u00a0 after a couple of minutes,\u00a0 the next table conversation turns into business-travel and one of the questions\u00a0 that pop is:\u00a0 How often do you get home?<\/p>\n
As a seasoned business traveler, traveling 80% plus per year, \u00a0this simple question\u00a0 caught my attention. \u00a0 I had to interrupt their conversation before I found myself intruding into their private conversation too much.\u00a0 After a bit\u00a0 of small-talk, I found them to be good fun people, very focused on their start-up\u2026 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Although I am very familiar with this life-style,\u00a0\u00a0 often the question asked is: \u201cHow often do you travel?\u201d or \u201cWhat percent of your job is travel?\u201d \u00a0however, I have *never* heard it put in this way.<\/p>\n A large percent of my work involves helping customers see things from a different prospective so they are able to transform and change.\u00a0 It is not an easy task to convey my message, and I am always in the lookout for simple ways to trigger\u00a0 that\u00a0 \u201cclick\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 –\u00a0\u00a0 It is a most rewarding moment when I see it.<\/p>\n I am now in my room writing this and I have to say, that simple question which I overhead\u00a0 a random restaurant in the table next to me by two random strangers taking is\u00a0 still making an impression..\u00a0 It probably will for a long time..<\/p>\n For me,\u00a0 my travels involve customer visits\u00a0 Monday\u00a0 – to \u2013 Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So I am typically home Friday \u2013 Sunday.<\/p>\n Perspective is truly fascinating\u2026\u00a0 It is so interesting how life has a way to pop, when you least expect it, reminders of what you are doing and why you are doing what you are doing\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It has\u00a0 been a tough couple of travel days, and decided that the night was better spent catch up on work.\u00a0 For dinner I chose to eat at the hotel restaurant, which, to be honest, I prefer to avoid, except for rare occasions.
