It is incredible that something that is less than 6 months old ( as of now) has captured everyone&#8217;s attention on every field of humanity.  I believe it has single handedly brought up the AI conversation to the front line.  It has been incredible to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it is essentially a good chatbot that can carry on natural language conversations with users in a wide range of contexts. You really think you are talking to another person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:10%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/lab.cccb.org\/en\/arthur-c-clarke-any-sufficiently-advanced-technology-is-indistinguishable-from-magic\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/lab.cccb.org\/en\/arthur-c-clarke-any-sufficiently-advanced-technology-is-indistinguishable-from-magic\/\">Arthur C.&nbsp;Clarke\u2019s quote<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:10%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It Is No MAGIC&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>(You can read my short article &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/understanding-how-ai-works\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"395030\">Understanding How AI Works<\/a>&#8221;  but to keep it simple and to the ChatGPT topic here <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ChatGPT is a conversational AI that is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) language model that has been in development since 2018 by <a href=\"https:\/\/open.ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenAI<\/a>, and was released to the public on November 30, 2022.  The capability of this model to understand and generate human-like conversations is impressive and unlike other chatbots that rely on pre-programmed responses or scripted conversations, ChatGPT can generate unique and relevant responses based on the context of the conversation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ChatGPT is different from other AI assistants and chatbots because of its state-of-the-art natural language processing capabilities. It uses the GPT architecture, a type of neural network called a &#8220;transformer&#8221;, which is a cutting-edge machine learning model designed to understand and generate natural language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Constantly Learning&#8230; <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A very important point of GPT and ChatGPT is that is constantly learning and improving, as it is trained on a large and diverse set of data, allowing it to adapt to new situations and provide more accurate and useful responses over time.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GPT 3.5 was initially trained on data that ultimately gave it the ability to consider 175 billion parameters depending on the prompt it receives. These models have the potential to revolutionize essentially every field, industries and applications, from content generation to customer service to research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, ChatGPT is unable to get real-time data from the internet.  Having said this, improvements like ability to add plugins come in on a daily basis.   Exiting times!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:5%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:90%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cChatGPT, a version of OpenAI\u2019s GPT-3.5 [family]\u2026&nbsp;gained more than 100m users in its first two months, and is now estimated to produce a volume of text every 14 days that is equivalent to all the printed works of humanity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/lifearchitect.ai\/about-alan\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/lifearchitect.ai\/about-alan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Dr Thompson, Feb\/2023, cited in report by the National Bureau of Economic Research (Scholes, Bernanke, MIT)<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:5%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seems to be everywhere!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, but it is not ChatGPT.   It is the underlining technology, GPT, which in being incorporated and used inside  many other applications.   ChatGPT is only one implementation.   For example, just last week, Bing incorporated its own <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/news\/2023-05-microsoft-ai-access.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/news\/2023-05-microsoft-ai-access.html\" target=\"_blank\">ChatBot last week into Edge<\/a> which uses GPT.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is Chat GPT the only one?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ChatGPT from <a href=\"https:\/\/open.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenAI<\/a> is not alone.     There is Google BARD which us based on the LaMDA model  is another popular one.   Facebook, Apple and others have created chatbots and use different models.
