My job takes me \u00a0to many sales calls, and presentations , and I work \u00a0with many salespeople \u00a0(we all are, but that is a different article). \u00a0 A few of them still \u00a0are in the habit of pitching ideas and then they hope \/ \u00a0“pray” to hear back from the customer… \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0I was in one of such meetings \u00a0this morning where it killed me to see \u00a0how silly \u00a0it was \u00a0to continue to blindly talk about things that a customer may or may not be interested in… \u00a0 What happened to qualification process??? \u00a0 \u00a0 Listening to customer needs, and then proposing something that makes sense? \u00a0 \u00a0What happened to 80% listening \u00a0and 20% talking? \u00a0– \u00a0Granted (and thankfully), not everyone follows the PnP approach, but we \u00a0need to make a effort to mentor those who still do, to help them come out of the habit!<\/p>\n
I have to admit, \u00a0the pun (PnP=Pitch and Pray) \u00a0is not of my doing… A friend mentioned it today, \u00a0just after the meeting and will stay with me for a very long time! \u00a0— Thanks J…!<\/p>\n
