 {"id":623,"date":"2013-10-08T09:41:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T16:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ebiz98.com\/?p=623"},"modified":"2022-10-05T22:53:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T05:53:49","slug":"wordpress-managing-multiple-sites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wordpress-managing-multiple-sites\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress Maintenance: Managing Multiple Sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So the interesting thing about WordPress sites is that, if you are not careful, all of the sudden you end up with a bunch of them and you end-up spending a lot of time maintaining plug-in, theme and system updates..<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you can always turn updates off, but security-wise that may not be best practice..\u00a0 Keeping up with multiple WordPress sites can be time-consuming.<\/p>\n<p>What do I need to Manage?<\/p>\n<p>If\u00a0 you have multiple Word Press sites, at bare minimum, you need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Update core WordPress files<\/li>\n<li>Update the multiple plugins you have on each site<\/li>\n<li>Potentially update the Theme on your site.<\/li>\n<li>Execute backups (not only to the code, but also the content which is in a database)<\/li>\n<li>Have the ability to quickly access\u00a0 any of your sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally would be nice to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage comments from a single point<\/li>\n<li>Post \/ Schedule posts to multiple sites<\/li>\n<li><em>Manage your ads \/ banners \/ promotions\u00a0 across multiple sites<\/em><\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So are there any tools that allows me to manage updates, backups\u00a0 and other admin functions on multiple sites ?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The answer is OF COURSE, but they vary widely in features and price\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 Let \u2018s look at a few I have used..<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"400\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/infinitewp.com\"><strong>InfiniteWP<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"178\" height=\"29\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I have personally been using InfiniteWP to manage my sites and simple needs.\u00a0 It is a great and stable product for the basic functions.<\/p>\n<p>It supports unlimited sites for FREE for the basic functions.\u00a0 There are lots of paid\u00a0 (and very useful) \u201cextensions\u201d you can purchase.<\/p>\n<p>unlike ManageWP, you need to install the application on a server of your own. Once installed and working (a very simple process, but requires a bit of know-how) then you connect via a plugin that needs to be installed on each of your target sites.\u00a0\u00a0 From there<\/p>\n<p>One thing I liked, is the fact that it keep a log of all of the changes made centrally, which you can refer to..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"400\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\"><a href=\"http:\/\/managewp.com\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/managewp.com\"><strong>ManageWP<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jorgep.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/logo1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>ManageWP is considered the golden standard out there.<\/p>\n<p>It is sold as a service for WordPress that allows website owners to manage all of their sites from one convenient administration panel.
