We went to the Forest Service Tonto National Forest Cave Creek Ranger Station today to find out what we needed to discover the area’s off-road “amenities”
- First we need a Tonto National Forest OHV Permit which you can get at https://recreation.gov (You can also download the app) and create an account or login as as guest to get the permit you want.
- Three levels 3Day Permit $10.00 | 6 Month Permit $60 | Annual Permit $80
- (we got the annual pass)
- Note this is per driver! and are not transferable.)
- this permit gives you access to the following permit zones:
- St Claire, Bulldog Canyon , Desert Vista and The Rolls
- Lots to explore!
- Three levels 3Day Permit $10.00 | 6 Month Permit $60 | Annual Permit $80
- There are 3 Staging Areas:
- WildCat Staging, Kentuck Staging and Indian Springs.
- You cannot / should not park your railer on the side of the roads. (My wife was right!)
- She recommended
- FR 413 (Camp Verde Access)
- 388 Access or 404 Access.
- Definitely Try the Telegraph Line Trail
- We are heading on 205 to Horseshoe Lake this time around (easy ride for wife)
So much to explore! Looking forward to it!
