Microsoft 365 is the current name for the suite of productivity services and applications (Microsoft rebranded Office 365 to Microsoft 365 in April 2020).

- A comprehensive subscription service that includes the latest Office apps plus additional cloud services and security features
- Includes Windows upgrades for some business plans

- Available for both personal and business use
Office 365
- The older name for the service (pre-2020)
- Still used for some specific business plans that only include the Office apps
- Focused primarily on the core Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- More limited in terms of additional services compared to Microsoft 365
Both services include the core Office applications, now called Microsoft 365 Apps (See Updates here), but Microsoft 365 represents Microsoft’s broader vision of productivity tools that go beyond just Office apps. The main difference is that Microsoft 365 includes everything Office 365 had plus additional features, security tools, and services.
