The Copilot Prompt Collective – Learning from Others

Disclaimer: I create this content entirely on my own time, and the views expressed here are mine alone (not my employer’s). Because I love leveraging new tech, I use AI tools like Gemini, NotebookLM, Claude, Perplexity and others as a “digital team” to help research and polish these articles so I can share the best possible insights with you!

Learning from others is the fastest way to realize what can be done. Instead of reinventing the wheel every time you sit down to work, you can stand on the shoulders of those who have already tested the ropes. This collection brings together GitHub repositories, video tutorials, and community forums so you can skip the trial-and-error phase. It is a living library designed to help you find the right prompt for your next meeting, spreadsheet, or presentation.

I should also say that there are many excellent prompt libraries out there for chatbot other than Copilot which you can learn from.

The Official Repositories & Built-in Libraries

There is no better place to start than with the source material and the community-maintained hubs. Some repositories focus on quick lists, while others serve as a structured archive for enterprise scenarios. Because M365 Copilot updates monthly, prioritizing active logs ensures you aren’t using outdated syntax.

Sometimes reading isn’t enough; you need to see the workflow in action. These channels range from official Microsoft announcements to deep-dives into Excel formulas. Adding a search filter for “2026” or “updated” will help you avoid outdated interfaces.

Community Intelligence & Reddit Gold

The real-world hacks often happen in the comments, not the official manuals. Reddit serves as a pressure cooker for these ideas, where users refine prompts until they work reliably. You can find these gems by using Google modifiers like site:reddit.com to filter the noise.

  • r/MicrosoftCopilot: The dedicated hub for workflow-specific discussions.
  • r/Microsoft365: Great for technical integration with OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • r/ChatGPTPro: Adaptable “chain-of-thought” prompting techniques.
  • r/Office365: Often reveals “prompt injection” patterns useful for enterprise.

A great example is a recent thread by a Reddit user sharing powerful cross-app and Outlook-specific prompts, which links directly to a broader GitHub repository. The community often shares a “Persona + Context + Output” framework that makes prompts more robust. You can also check out Microsoft Support’s guide on prompt structure to understand the foundational elements of a good request.

Think of early aviation. When pilots first started flying across oceans, they didn’t have established air traffic control. They relied on logbooks shared between aviators, noting wind patterns, safe landing strips, and fuel caches. A shared prompt is much like a pilot’s logbook—it’s a tested route through the AI’s logic that you can adapt to your own flight plan.

Social Media Goldmines: LinkedIn and X

While Reddit is fantastic for deep troubleshooting, mainstream social networks offer a different, highly curated flavor of prompt sharing. Professionals and product managers use these platforms to broadcast their best workflows in real-time, often right after a new feature drops.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has quietly become a goldmine for corporate productivity hacks. Unlike Reddit’s anonymous troubleshooting, LinkedIn is where professionals stake their reputation on the workflows they share, meaning the prompts are often polished and ready for the boardroom.

  • Search Bar Hacks: Use the main search bar and type "M365 Copilot prompt" or "Copilot for Excel". Once the results load, click the “Posts” filter and sort by “Past Week” to ensure you are seeing the latest UI changes.
  • Hashtags to Follow: Track #MicrosoftCopilot, #M365Copilot, and #CopilotPrompts.
  • Creators to Watch: Look for Microsoft MVPs and organizational change consultants who frequently post “carousel” style graphics breaking down a single prompt step-by-step.

Twitter / X

Twitter (or X) is where the real-time, bleeding-edge conversation happens. Microsoft engineers and product managers often drop quick tips or prompt examples the moment a feature launches, sometimes before official documentation is even updated.

  • Advanced Search: Use Twitter’s advanced search tool to look for exact phrases like "Copilot prompt". To filter out the noise, add min_faves:20 or min_faves:50 to your query so you only see tips that the community has actually validated.
  • Hashtags: Follow #Copilot and #Microsoft365.
  • The Bookmark Strategy: Create a dedicated bookmark folder called “Copilot Prompts.” Whenever you see a useful thread or screenshot, save it there to build a rolling, highly curated feed of bite-sized strategies.

Think of these social platforms like a lively trade show floor. You might not get the deep, technical manuals you’d find in a quiet library (GitHub), but you get immediate, word-of-mouth recommendations and the latest prototypes straight from the people building the tools. These are living libraries, so check the “Last Updated” date on any source before using it.

What prompt is missing from your daily workflow? How often do you share your own successful prompts with your team?
