System Center 2012 SP1 Released.

Back in December Microsoft released System Center 2012 SP1 (Service Pack 1) to manufacturing.   Much has been written about it since…   The good news is that   it was officially released (general availability)  yesterday.

With System Center 2012 SP1, you get the most cost effective and flexible platform for managing your traditional datacenters, private and public clouds, and client computers and devices. System Center components include:

  • Configuration Manager
  • Service Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Orchestrator
  • Data Protection Manager
  • Virtual Machine Manager

One of the most awaited features is the combination of System Center 2012 SP1 with Windows Server 2012 provides the foundation of what Microsoft calls the ‘Cloud OS’.

From a end-user perspective,  one of the key enhancements included in this release is the integration between Configuration Manager and Microsoft’s Windows Intune, which allows users to leverage on console to monitor on-premise, corporate-owned equipment and BYOD devices belonging to employees.

According to the January 15, 2013 blog entry by Carlos Gutierrez, Microsoft Virtual Academy is launching three new courses in January, each focused on helping IT professionals understand the benefits of System Center 2012 SP1
