Google NotebookLM – Updates

Share

Last year I wrote about what an amazing tool Google Labs NotebookLM is.

[ Sidenote: I cannot believe it is still part of Google Labs! ]

Well in the last few weeks they have improved it even more! (Just wow!)

Google’s AI research assistant, NotebookLM, has rolled out some exciting new features recently!

  • Mobile Apps Incoming: Get ready for dedicated NotebookLM apps! Pre-registration is now open on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with the official launch expected around May 20th (just in time for Google I/O). This will bring features like offline audio playback to your phone.
  • Audio Overviews Go Global: The popular “Audio Overviews” feature, which turns your source documents into engaging podcast-style summaries, now supports over 50 languages! You can even select your preferred output language in the settings.
  • Smarter Responses: The core text Q&A functionality is now powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash, aiming for faster, more comprehensive, and better-reasoned answers based on your uploaded materials.
  • Discover Web Sources: You can now ask NotebookLM to find and summarize relevant sources from the web based on your topic description, making it easier to build out your research.

These updates make NotebookLM an even more versatile and accessible tool for anyone needing to understand and synthesize complex information!

I will go in a limb and say that it is THE best example of AI integration usage into everyday life. Impressive!
