Is it Real? The Positive Side of Hyper-Real AI

AI Disclaimer I love exploring new technology, and that includes using AI to help with research and editing! My digital “team” includes tools like Google Gemini, Notebook LM, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity.ai, Claude.ai, and others as needed. They help me gather insights and polish content—so you get the best, most up-to-date information possible.

In a previous post, we looked at how AI was used to manufacture a fake persona for clout. Although I love the sound and lyrics, it did felt cold because the intent was to deceive. I wanted to follow up with a story that is far more real, deeply creative, and, honestly, much more positive. Because while the “Deepfake Singer” left us looking for glitches, Kelly Boesch is proving that AI doesn’t have to be a scam—it can be a soul-stirring new form of visual poetry.

Kelly Boesch is the exact opposite. She isn’t a ghost in a content farm; she is a professional visual artist with two decades of experience, including high-level work with IMAX. She is a pioneer in a genre she calls “Visual Electronica.” When you watch her videos, you aren’t looking for “tells” to catch her in a lie. You don’t have to. Kelly is 100% transparent about her process. She isn’t trying to pass off a fake person as a real contestant on a reality show; she is using AI to invite us into her dreams.

Is It Real or a Hybrid?

The most common question on Kelly’s videos is: “How is this possible? Are these real people?”

The answer is fascinating. While the visuals are AI-generated, the direction is entirely human. Unlike the grainy, “captured-on-a-cellphone” look of the Michael Bennett video—which used low quality to hide its flaws—Kelly’s work is cinematic and high-fidelity.

She uses a sophisticated “Image-to-Video” workflow that requires a master’s touch:

  • The Vision: She creates hyper-realistic base images (often using Midjourney), leveraging her 20 years of design experience to get the lighting, texture, and “human” gaze perfect.
  • The Motion: She then “breathes life” into those images using cutting-edge tools like VEO3 or Runway.
  • The Human Soul: She edits these clips with a professional’s eye, ensuring the “physics” of the movement feels right and the pacing matches the music.

The result? People who look “super real” but exist in a world that is clearly magical. It’s not a deepfake meant to fool you; it’s Digital Surrealism meant to move you.

Why Intent Matters

The Michael Bennett story made us want to close our eyes and protect ourselves from being manipulated.

Kelly Boesch’s work makes you want to open your eyes wider. She proves that AI doesn’t have to replace the artist; it can be the ultimate power tool for the artist. On her channel, she doesn’t just generate “content”—she creates albums, directs music videos, and tells stories that feel deeply human, despite being made of pixels and code. She is using the same tools that the “hoaxers” use, but she is using them to build, not to bait.

The Positive Path Forward

As AI becomes part of our daily feed, the “Michael Bennetts” of the world will continue to try and trick us for a quick click. But creators like Kelly Boesch are showing us a different path.

One is a masked trickster; the other is a transparent creator. If you were one of the 55,000+ people who felt a bit uneasy after my last post, I highly recommend spending ten minutes with Kelly’s work. It’s a reminder that technology is just a tool—it’s the heart of the person holding it that determines whether the result is a lie or a masterpiece.
